post #8- new show formats- YSL, Chanel, DVF

The Chanel Contemporary Art Container

Ever since Yves Saint Laurent showed their Fall/Winter '08 Men's Collection via LCD screen, multimedia formats have been the new wave of fashion media. Following in the brand's footsteps, Diane von Furstenberg launched a new addition to her website dvf.com by highlighting the work of the French painter, Francois-Marie Banier. Additionally, Chanel's multimedia outlet, chanel-mobileart.com features the Chanel Contemporary Art Container, designed by architect Zaha Hadid and modeled after the iconic "Quilted Bag." Lastly, as we all know, Christopher Bailey's most recent Burberry Prorsum show featured a live stream along with the option for consumers and industry greats alike to purchase the actual collection and receive the clothes 6-8 weeks later. This is truly a first in the fashion world, and I suppose we will have to wait to see if it catches on.
